Happy Birthday Big Guy!

Tee Creek's Bad Moon Rising, aka, "Storm" is 5 years old today. My stand-up comic, whose quirky personality and lovey dovey attitude drive me insane, has turned out to be a very handsome devil!

Road trip

Why not? Friday,April 18, I found what I thought was a paint chip on the rug. This was AFTER I attempted to brush Sunny's teeth and she moved away. I went to get my glasses, found said "chip" and the light went on....uh-oh. Sure enough, it looked like the enamel from her right carnassial tooth. Saturday a.m. I call the Vet and get told to bring her in on Monday since Dr.MacTaggart is the dentistry Vet. Sunny seems no worse for wear so we wait it out. Monday I get told she needs either the tooth to be repaired, extracted, or left alone until something happens (infection). That was not an option so we get an appointment to a Specialist in Guelph. Friday, the 25th, Barb(thank God for Barb) and I head out to Guelph with Sunny for a 3:30 appointment. Long story short: she took off the enamel 3ml below the gum line but fortunately, the tooth was able to be saved. She had a root canal which was done while Barb and I killed some time at the Mall we were at only 2 weeks before with Bandit. Sunny survived the surgery. So did I. She slept all the way home and we got here at 10. Sunny is back to her self. No more nylabones or tug of war. I got complimented on her good dental health (haha). Enough is enough...Barb and I have decided NO MORE ROAD TRIPS. Dr. Hale is a super Vet:)

Good news

Today Harley had his annual check-up along with his HWT. Most importantly, his gums and teeth are fine and in fact, Dr.MacTaggart said he is doing extremely well and his teeth look "better than the last check-up." I sprayed him with "Isolde" and he remained calm while we were there which was at least an hour since we had to wait for the Vet. Rosemary trimmed his nails. His heartbeat is normal (yay-no more erratic heartbeat!), his temp is normal and I am SO pleased. I LOVE that dog!

An almost anniversary

April 2-a little more than 11 months ago, Teddy arrived via American Airlines, accompanied by a goat(which fortunately didn't come home with us). I just returned from 2 weeks with Shannon, Shaun, Faith and Benjamin in Texas. The dogs stayed here, baby-sat by Jen (mostly), with a little help from Miriam and Scott. My return was hailed with excitement, since, of course in dog years I was gone, gee, what must've seemed like at least a year. Teddy was like my crew: bouncing and yapping and just like them, willing even more to work with me. Fast forward to this morning when, after our walk, I decided to pull out the agility jump, since finally I could (no snow). After Sunny and Storm did their usual jumping, I tried Teddy, but this time, instead of laying the jump down so he would only have to jump maybe a half of foot, I left it upright, trying to coax him. Normally I'd use the clicker, but God forbid, that would scare the daylights out of him, so when he quit crawling underneath, (knowing that wasn't what I wanted), he put one foot on the middle bar and I yelled "YES!!! GOOD BOY" and rewarded him. So when I tried again, he jumped...and he did several more as well. I praised him profusely and rewarded him, much to the indignation of the collies who looked like "Big hairy deal". But it IS a big deal...another HUGE breakthrough for Texas Teddy who has his license now here in Fort Erie. He has dual citizenship before Auntie Denise too!!

Typically Ted

10 months have passed since the day we went to pick up Texas Teddy and have him join our family. He has come a LONG way since that fateful flight with the goat. He wags his tail a lot, has our routine down to a science, and seems to enjoy all the attention he gets here. He walks with us and it never fails that he is completely beside himself when he knows we are either going out for a walk or a car ride. He weighs 32.7 lbs,has his teeth brushed daily as well as his coat, and has become "one of the gang". He seems to have realized Sunny is a girl which she doesn't much care for...but he is here and he has a new family....I only hope he is happy!
